On November 12 1970 the Oregon Highway Department attempted to dispose of dead beached 8 ton whale by blowing it up with 1000 lbs of dynamite.

What resulted was television (and now youtube) history.

This event occurred on a beach south of Florence Oregon and the Siuslaw River

Go to South Jetty County Park at the end of Sand Dunes rd

Walk along Jetty to 3 large boulders and check under leftmost boulder.
